The ATO is introducing changes to the way employers report salary and wages, PAYG and superannuation information called Single Touch Payroll. Payroll software will send this information directly to the ATO when employees are paid.
Start Dates –
- 1 July 2018 – If you have more than 20 employees as at 1 April 2018
- 1 July 2019 – Everyone
Payroll software providers are currently working with the ATO to upgrade their software, ready for the 1 July 2018 start date. Software updates will be coming in the near future so keep an eye out.
If you currently have 20 or more employees you will need to use a payroll software solution that is Single Touch Payroll enabled. Please contact your Accountant at Cheesman Applegarth as soon as possible to discuss your options.
