Queensland Government’s Back to Work Regional Employment Package

Back to Work Package Now Includes South East Queensland

Queensland Government’s Back to Work Regional Employment Package

From 1 July 2017, the Queensland Government’s Back to Work Regional Employment Package has been expanded to include businesses located in South East Queensland.

Under the Back to Work South East Queensland package, employers hiring  long-term unemployed or young unemployed job seekers in the South East Queensland region may be eligible for an Employer Support or Youth Boost Payment.

Employer Support Payments of up to $15,000 are available for job seekers previously unemployed for 52 weeks or more.  This increases to up to $20,000 for youth aged between 15-24 year who have been unemployed for a minimum of four weeks.

Both payments are made directly to eligible employers, and are staged over three parts – after 4, 26 and 52 weeks of continuous employment and approval of payment applications.

The new employee must be hired between 1 July 2017 and 30 June 2018 (subject to availability of funds).  Applications will be capped at five applications per employer, and must be submitted within eight weeks of the employee completing four weeks of continuous employment with the eligible employers.

As part of the package, you will also be given access to a Back to Work Employer Officer who will work with you to access information and create new job opportunities.

An eligible job must be mainly located in South East Queensland in one of the following local government areas:
